Chinese Help and Information Phone Line – Lancashire Constabulary

The Chinese Help and Information Phone Line has been staffed by volunteers since 2014 to improve communication between the police and the Chinese community.

The phone line was introduced after it became apparent that very few crimes and community issues were reported to Lancashire Police from members of this community.

The team of specially selected and trained volunteers who speak English and Cantonese or Mandarin, assist the police by translating, and by helping to deal with issues and concerns.   The volunteers are trained in areas such as hate crime, domestic abuse, road policing issues and neighbourhood policing.
